Random Thinking - October 8th 2006

The Thinker Random thinking on a sunny, windy, cool fall morning …

  • I didn’t mention in early AM posting that sometimes Members of Congress stay in office because no one runs against them – it is especially true with the House of Representatives, for example. The amount of money, especially as the position is towards the Presidential office, required in order to campaign is costly. This makes it difficult for independents, and why usually the candidates usually have means (wealthy) in order to run for office and with the help of campaign funds. Sometimes candidates must drop out because of funding problems. This is unfortunate because it limits the chance of a capable and sincere candidate to campaign.

First, as mentioned in a previous posting, the Foley Scandal is a disgrace, and since the FBI has the goods on him, just resigning is not the end of the issue – he should be prosecuted; and turning himself in for alcohol rehabilitation is not any excuse or justification.
