Words from 1971, John Lennon released after the breakup of the Beatles. Mark Alexander, Patriot Post, Journal of Record, writes:

…”Imagine” envisioned a world free not only of war but also of religion, which Lennon believed to be the root cause of all war. Lennon’s world was a stateless one, where communal man lived without poverty, possessions or conflict.

There was much murmuring concerning the fact that President Bush signed the appropriations bill for the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (HR 6061), but not the bill itself. Well, the legislation that passed Congress and directs the Department of Homeland Security to construct 700 miles of fencing along the U.S./Mexico border was signed on October 26^th. About $1.2 billion was set aside for Fiscal Year 2007 in the appropriations bill (HR 5541) for fencing, vehicle barriers and technology.
