So you want a Pet!

There are many questions you have to ask yourself before you decide to go out and get a pet.

What type of pet do I want?

Will it be an indoor or outdoor pet?

Do I have the time for a pet?

Do I have the energy for a pet?

Can I afford a pet?

Will the type of pet I want fit into my life style?

The answer is: Do your research!!!!

Once you have decided what type of pet you would like, become informed before you own. Learn all you can about that pet. The internet is a great source of information. Talk to people who have pets, go to your local pet shop, and talk to your local veterinarians.

Because I’m not sure what pet to start with since I would want them all we’ll start with dogs.

Is there a pet contract, health guarantee, do they have a return policy, are they willing to let you visit and see the parents? A good breeder will offer all the above.

As for a mutt you can always adopt from your local shelter. Many dogs end up there due to no fault of their own. Previous owner moving died or just didn’t realize how much work/time was involved. Perhaps the dog developed a bad habit that the owner just didn’t want to deal with any longer. What ever the reason the staff at the shelter can help you make the right pet choice for you.
