Michelle Malkin, syndicated columnist writes about the anti-war situation in her article, The Return of the Eagles, dated August 29th, 2007 …
The dog days of August have drawn to a close. This is the calm before the gathering political storm. On Sept. 15, the far-left group ANSWER (“Act Now to Stop War and End Racism”) will descend on the nation’s capitol to demand what they’ve been demanding for the last six years in the aftermath of the 911 attacks: immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan; immediate closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility and immediate release of every last suspected al Qaeda operative in American custody; immediate impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney;[I] and immediate capitulation to our enemies at home and abroad.
Who will be there to counter the Jane Fonda retreads? Will you?
… On a bitter cold weekend in March, the Gathering of Eagles brought together veterans, families of active-duty servicemen and servicewomen, Rolling Thunder members, military bloggers and their grass-roots supporters to raise their pro-troops, pro-mission voices. I interviewed Eagles who flew in from San Francisco, rode motorcycles south from Georgia, drove all night from Boston, and trekked in caravans from coast to coast to answer ANSWER. At the crack of dawn, facing biting winds and contemptuous taunts, tens of thousands of Eagles stood guard over war memorials threatened by anti-war anarchists and lined the streets where bongo drum-beating retreatists marched.
The Gathering of Eagles turnout was unprecedented. The Cindy Sheehanistas and socialist rabble-rousers had never been met with such force. Now, the Eagles are organizing a return to Washington at a historic moment in the global war against jihad. Gen. David Petraeus, top commander in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker are expected to testify before the Senate on Sept. 11. Yes, that Sept. 11. Four days later, Sept. 15, is the deadline for the president to submit reports to Congress on how Iraq is meeting benchmarks for progress since the troop surge was announced in January. …
For every anti-Bush activist agitating for immediate withdrawal and throwing rocks at ROTC offices, an Eagle will be there in Washington to oppose the planting of the white flag. The organizations leading the way include Gathering of Eagles, Eagles Landing, Move America Forward, the Military order of the Purple Heart, Free Republic, Vets for Freedom and the Victory Caucus. (visit gatheringofeagles.org and moveamericaforward.org for details.) …While the anti-democracy forces are well-funded by pro-left, anti-Americans, we Eagles have steadily been building our own coalition to stop ANSWER in its tracks, and keep Congress focused on winning the war, not their political ambitions.”
I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
Gabriel Garnica writes in her article, America is an Addict Hooked on Illegal Immigration, dated August 29th, 2007. …
There is considerable evidence that illegal immigration causes untold harm and results in countless victims on many levels. …
From depressed wages to harmful effects on the poor, African Americans and lawful citizens alike, illegal immigration exacts a considerable toll on other groups comprising our society.
From an overextended social security and healthcare system to millions in unreported wages and hence lost income tax revenues, illegal immigration likewise exacts an economic impact on our well-being. We have all seen the social and political toll that this issue creates, with division and conflict springing from the mindless defense of illegality in the name of some trumped-up, two-bit and flimsy notion of social justice. …
As a fan of ‘70s and ‘80s music, I wax nostalgic every time I hear an old tune from those days. A few weeks ago I stumbled across Huey Lewis and the News singing “I Want a New Drug.” It occurs to me as I watch proponents of “immigration reform” (euphemisms … another symptom of addiction) scramble and rush to “push” their crusade over the objections of most Americans, that America also wants a new drug. Given the liberal counterculture of the ‘60s and its drug-induced indulgences, it should not surprise anyone that liberals are once again doing their best to intoxicate and tempt America with its latest addiction. As things look right now, America is that addict and illegal immigration proponents are America’s very willing pushers.
Sanctuary cities are providing a haven for illegal immigrants – but at what cost? Pam Meister reports …
… Like the child whose bad behavior escalates when parents fail to nip it in the bud, so will the illegal alien problem continue to spiral out of control if we persist on ignoring it and the consequences it brings. …
As columnist Amanda Carpenter points out, “sanctuary city policies defy guidelines from the 9/11 Commission report, which called on state and local authorities to help federal agencies crack down on illegal immigration.” … Democrat leaders promised to implement all of the Commission’s recommendations within the first 100 hours of the new Congress. …
In addition to national security issues, there is the predicament of economic collapse within some of the cities dedicated to sanctuary. Illegal aliens are a drain on public services, including education and healthcare. …
… The problem is, approximately 60% of these uninsured in LA County are not American citizens, and two million illegal aliens utilize those emergency rooms because of their inability to pay a doctor. …
Tomorrow, Monday, September 3rd, is Labor Day. The Ann Arbor News by Rick Haglund concerns Labor Day …
Maybe it shouldn’t be called Labor Day anymore. How about Chief Executive Officer’s Day? Or maybe Upper-Middle-Class Family Day? …Labor Day 2007 is less a day of rest for wage earners than another day for them to worry about their economic futures. A variety of data show that the average worker continues to lose ground to CEOs and others at the top of the wage scale. Nationally median family income rose a slight .07 percent from 2005 to 2006 in Michigan as the auto industry contracted and tens of thousands of unionized workers left the labor force. State median family income dropped from $47,558 in 2005 to $47,182, according to the census report. But the census figures showed that median family income rose nationwide because more family members were working or were working more hours. … And the share of income going to the top fifth of households was 50.5 percent, the highest share since 1967, according to the liberal Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. … Nearly a third of the Detroit’s residents lived below the poverty line, census figures show. … Bankrupt Delphi Corp. and the United Auto Workers union reached a four-year pact in June that cut wages from $27 an hour to between $14 and $18.50 an hour. … But the story is much brighter for CEOs of major corporations and the wealthiest in society. CEOS of major corporations earned 262 times what average earners made in 2005, the latest available figure from the Economic Policy Institute shows. … But some conservatives and business-related groups say many workers are well paid and generally happy with their jobs.
This demonstrates the ideology and political manipulation of the left, using the time-worn tactics of class warfare. However, the truth about economics nationwide is that the cost of living is rising much faster than the wages are. As far as job cuts, it is evident, especially in the state of Michigan, i.e. Detroit – which welfare states don’t work well. They become tax burdened that causes the average wage earner to have difficulty making ends meet. And the local and state governments tax the very businesses that provide jobs to those wage earners and are actually chasing business entities out of their state – which increases the woes of wage earners.
The Left is constantly painting the white collar workers and those that own, run and operate businesses a picture of “evil” corporations; when in fact, it is the government that is greedy and unscrupulous.
[I] If a successful impeachment occurred involving both President and Vice President, this would put the Speaker of the House into the presidency vacancy according to constitutional law – and guess who that would be? If you didn’t choose Nancy Pelosi – think again.
