Images beamed back from Mars would suggest … although skeptics, it could just be a strange rock formation.
NASA’s Mars Explorer Spirit sent back images from the surface of the Red Planet four years ago, and there was initial disappointment among scientists that they lacked any signs of life. But space and science fiction enthusiasts are convinced there is more than meets the eye, and after years of studying images, have found what appears to be an alien figure walking downhill. … Rovers are deployed because it has so far been too costly and difficult to achieve a manned mission to Mars, and because probes and satellites are too limited to explore the Martian surface. The Spirit rover was launched on June 10, 2003.
It certainly looks like it is part of the rock formation, although the hues of colors don’t match the surrounding rock and the “figure” is darker. Wishful thinking? And what affect to all of this would occur if the asteroid destined to hit Mars, does so?

I don’t get it. All these people running around saying it’s a living thing, why not a statue left from a past civilisation. You can clearly see it’s not running around it is in fact sitting in a way I have seen many statues. Then and foremost there is also the other chance that it is nothing at all, simply shadow on a rock.

Wishful thinking perhaps? And if it is a statue – is the “civilization” past, repressed or still exists?
Interesting to contemplate anyway.
As far as being a shadow, it is not positioned or is there any formation shaped near the shape of the “being” to be a shadow.
Personally, I believe, at least in this solar system, we are the only significant life form – but, it would be naive to think that out of the vastness of the universe we are the only form of “civilization”.

If you look at and adjust the NASA photo closely in Photoshop you can see that there are at least four figures along the rock outcropping. There might also be figures along the next rock outcropping in the distance. The four closest figures are wearing clothing and are definitely not rocks. The one standing figure (”mermaid statue”) has thrown an object like a ball to the figure in front of him–you can see this figure with palm up and shadow on the ground below his hand. The standing “mermaid” figure is wearing some sort of robe/gown with sleeves halfway up arm; flesh tones and fingers are clearly visible. The figure in front of him is wearing a hoodie. And, in front of the hooded figure is a someone with only part of their arm visible, jutting out from the rock, and the arm is clothed in some sort of light-colored garment. A fourth hooded figure, peering over the rock, is visible behind the full “mermaid” figure. Actually the mermaid figure seems to be bearded, and wearing a hat with an antenna. I cannot tell if the NASA photo has been tampered with, but one thing for sure is that those aren’t rocks in the photo. If this is a hoax, shame, shame, shame. Looking at the photo, I could not rule out that the figure is Osama Bin Laden, or Jesus, or that these photos were doctored by a Cornell student with a sense of humor.

If this was a hoax or a question that it would be or not – it would have appeared in the Myth Blaster section.
First of all, the photo, if you look at the pan view, which the NASA folks analyzed – is real. Secondly, they didn’t state that this is proof in the pudding – there are beings walking around the planet. The figure or what looks like a figure was just there in the photo. I already stated – Is this wishful thinking? Or is it a being? A shadow? An outcrop of rock (which would be weird since the coloring is so different than the rest). One person suggested it might be remnants of a statue from a lost civilization. No specifics – just reported as it.
I can show you some clouds in the sky – bet you could use your imagination and imagined talent and see many things.
