Random Thoughts and Wishing for Spring Weather

cana-island-lighthouse_winter-01 Since moving up in Northern country, where I was raised (born in Chicago), from Georgia (where I mustered out from US Army in 1994), I have had to relearn fishing techniques here on the Peninsula. It took less time than I had imagined since Wisconsin was my fishing experience in my youth. In Georgia, I was used to Largemouth Bass fishing, combined with an occasional crappie, if I chose to fish for that type of fish for the frying pan. And mentioning that, I have found that Smallmouth Bass isn’t as tasty a fillet as Largemouth Bass, in my opinion; and bass in general isn’t as good as Perch, Trout or Salmon. So, as I did in Georgia, bass fishing was purely for the sport and the catch-and-release method was used no matter how big a lunker I caught. I guess I should have kept one of the big ones for mounting, but after wrestling with that big one I felt obligated to release it and maybe he would be a record breaker one day.
