May Day – Just Another Spring Day?
May Day will soon be here, and with it the labors of spring – vegetable gardens started, at least here on the Peninsula between weekends of May 1st to the Memorial Day weekend, May 26th this year. Budded plants will begin to show greenery, and of course there will be festivals. But in other parts of the nation this tranquility of April showers bringing forth May flowers may be broken with the demonstrations by people who have come to America uninvited coinciding their protestations with the Mexican celebration day of Cinco de Mayo – a holiday/remembrance that has nothing to do with American history.
