Canadian First Nation Natives Finally Get Apology and Restitution

In American history books one can read the ups and downs, the right and wrongs of our nation. Apparently, in Canada, this isn’t so. In an article by Sarah Shenker, BBC, (Legacy of Canada’s Residential Schools) concerning the long overdue apology and restitution to the Native Indians of Canada, Justice Harry LaForme, Ontario judge stated that Canadians were “largely unaware of aboriginal history” …

Aged four, he was sent from his home to a series of state-run church boarding schools, where he was stripped of his language, religion and culture. He was physically and sexually abused. When he returned home 12 years later, his mother did not recognise him. “To apologise for taking me away from my family, for losing my culture and the loss of my childhood and the loss of my mother’s love… How does one apologise for that?” he asks. Still, he will be there in Ottawa when Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper takes to the floor of parliament for the historic step of apologising on behalf of the nation for one of the darkest chapters in its history.

warming Those urging Congress to pass the Lieberman-Warner bill say it would slow global warming by capping carbon dioxide emissions. But a number of studies predict severe consequences in higher energy costs for the U.S. economy and consumers. Studies from The Heritage Foundation, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Charles River Associates and even the Environmental Protection Agency share this dire assessment of the cap-and-tax legislation.[1]
In 2025 alone, Heritage’s study concluded, Lieberman–Warner would cost the nation at least 500,000 jobs and cut economic output by at least $125 billion — for little to no environmental benefit. Heritage experts circulated the following chart to media outlets to help spread the word about the legislation’s harmful consequences.
