Controlling Climate – Who Do They Think They Are Kidding?

Orillio-Ontario-Canada_08The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change continues to insist that human activity is changing the climate, despite the recent discovery by scientists that it is the changing magnetic field and the Sun (Earth’s star) that is changing. Despite clear and factual data showing how little the temperature has risen on occasion over the last decade – it was a warmer period during the medieval age than the present and catastrophes described by the Al Gore crowd never occurred – the concept of global warming or some drastic climate change. The problem with all of this is that our national leadership is following like sheep the shepherds of folly. But do not think that that leadership doesn’t understand what is going on – they have found a scheme that will provide them an investment upon the public’s misery, and that misery will be taxation and higher costs. European educational systems are providing textbooks that promote this folly. One written by Bill Mertz entitled Controlling Climate Change. Science fiction novels and films, as well as comic books have depicted an era when humans will be able to control weather/climate; but the reality would be that it would have to be an artificial bubble covering an area on the globe that would allow this or make that happen.

The sociocrats cry that energy costs are skyrocketing, but refuse to wean America off foreign oil and use the vast resources here in North America. They demonized the Bush administration for not doing enough when it comes to environmental issues, all the while performing radical actions based on radical ideology and all based on junk science. Science has become political and government intends to be in control of it – and lobbying entities of powerful organizations and industry are in control of our government.

photosynthesis-color-chartMany cannot make up their mind in terms of climate change, some are saying as they said in the last decade that Earth temperatures are going to be cooler and others say we will be cooking in the heat, the Polar Regions will melt and coastal cities will be under water. They demonize CO2, but fail to understand or take in account the fact that carbon dioxide is required in order for plants to perform the operation of taking in CO2 and releasing oxygen [photosynthesis). That concept is high school science, yet universities and colleges are ignoring the common sense reality about climate and weather. Global warming and the climate change political movement is not only a wasted effort and a waste of taxpayer funding, but it will make the general public sacrifice and suffer more than they are now during the ongoing economic crisis. It will be like George Soros during the economic downturn, and see profit over someone else’s misery. Global warming is not just a hoax, but it is also a tool, an emotional tool, used by the political left that has taken the concept of Karl Marx into the 21st Century and using it to justify Big Government policies and ideology, and in the case of America, turning it into a Nanny State and a government operated by socialists whose never ending greed for power will end up killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Sociocrats are like parasites, the host usually ends up dead. Global warming and the concepts of climate change, especially its perceived origins and facts that prove them wrong, is nothing but a consensus – a consensus that cannot hold up to arguments of facts and clear statistics. Despite those who show the flaws in their perceptions, they continue to support junk scientists that make up those in government and academic institutions, based mostly on the book The Discovery of Global Warming by Spencer R. Weart and the entity known as the Union of Concerned Scientists. This start of the 21st Century shows progress in technology and the sciences, and the advocacy of alarmists and the political left cannot stand against reality and the bare facts.

Carbon footprint and other descriptive terminology is the prime example of how the public can be duped into joining this global movement.

In Eric McLamb’s article Averting Carbon Footprint and Controlling Climate Through innovative Crop Production at Ecology Global Network:

By carefully selecting which varieties of food crops to cultivate, much of Europe and North America could be cooled by up to 1°C (2°F) during the summer growing season, says researchers from the University of Bristol, England. This equivalent to an annual global cooling of over 0.1°C (2°F), [sic] almost 20% of the total global temperature increase since the Industrial Revolution. The growing of crops already produces a cooling of the climate because they reflect more sunlight back into space, compared with natural vegetation. Different varieties of the same crop vary significantly in their solar reflectively (called ‘albedo’), so selecting varieties that are more reflective will enhance this cooling effect. Since arable agriculture is a global industry, such cooling could be extensive.

So, the world requires growing more corn, not to feed the hungry, but to cool temperatures by an unnoticeable degree – as unnoticeable as the temperature changes that fluctuate naturally year after year, season after season. The article continues with an incentive for farmers …

Over the next hundred years, making these kinds of decisions would be equivalent to averting the carbon footprint of 195 billion tonnes of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. Farmers could be encouraged to grow such crops by issuing them with carbon credits. Ridgwell has calculated that if such a mechanism were in place farmers might expect to earn in the region of 23 euros per hectare per year for the warming averted. Biofuels currently earn 45 euros per hectare per year, but take up valuable agricultural land needed for growing crops.

After a record drop in temperatures and unusual snowfall in California, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) addressed a Capitol Hill briefing sponsored by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, as well as The Pacific Research Institute entitled California’s Meltdown: Causes and Cures. Big news in cyberspace is the healthcare reform chart that

…has made a media splash on the blogosphere and cable news channels

William Yeatman calls it one of the several bait-and-switch programs of the Obama administration and fellow sociocrats in Congress, which also includes false-claiming conservatives, like John McCain who falls in step pretty much what the Democrats are up to. Of course, he jumps from one side to the other constantly, as his sudden protest against certain aspects of the healthcare plan before the Senate presently. Yeatman wrote:

This sad state of contemporary policy-making was evidenced last month, when the House of Representatives narrowly passed a 1,500 page major cap-and-trade climate change boondoggle that no one had bothered to read. A picture, however, is worth a thousand words (perhaps even 1,500 pages) which is why the healthcare chart is such a powerful symbol-it visualizes the impact of a major policy that absolutely no one understands, with the obvious exception of Members of Congress and the lobbyists who wrote it.

William Yeatman also wrote in his article entitled Obama’s Wacky Science Czar Makes Headlines, which is nothing new for people in his administration:

President Barack Obama’s White House Science Advisor Dr. John P. Holdren (also known as “Dr. Doom”) is back in the headlines. A clever blogger has made available passages from a book that Holdren co-wrote more than 30 years ago, about how the world is going to end, which is his favorite topic. The excerpts from the book document Holdren’s wacky solution to the supposed apocalypse: population control. During his long and infamous career, Holdren has warned that the end is nigh on account of “ecocide,” global warming due to direct heating from power plant, global cooling due to particulate aerosol emissions, nuclear winter, population growth, and now, global warming due to greenhouse gases. Needless to say, Holdren has been proven wrong time and time again. Despite this long and infamous career, Obama chose Holdren to be his top adviser on science policy, but I bet the President will come to regret his decision. Holdren’s record of zany zingers will make excellent scandal fodder for as long as he remains at his post. To read more about Holdren, click here, which will take you to a webmemo on Holdren I wrote in January.

And William Yeatman provides advice for all in his article entitled – A Real Choice on Climate Change: Do Nothing:

Global efforts to mitigate climate change are resulting in the most ineffectual diplomacy since U.S. Secretary of State Frank Kellogg and French Foreign Minister Aristide Briand tried to end all war with international law-eleven years before Hitler launched World War II. The fecklessness of climate diplomacy was on full display last week at the Group of Eight summit of industrialized countries in Italy, where the international community simultaneously vowed to limit global warming and disavowed the necessary action to do so. During the summit, U.S. President Barack Obama convened a Major Economies Meeting of 17 countries responsible for 80 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Together, these countries agreed that they “ought” to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius. …
There are three possible scenarios to bridge this gap between rhetoric and reality.
The first is for everyone to quit. Developing countries have a sovereign right not to act on climate change, and their rapidly growing economies will account for the preponderance of future growth in global emissions, which gives developed countries little reason to limit emissions themselves. As Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi told The New York Times, it makes little sense for the G8 to commit to stringent emissions reductions if “five billion people continue to behave as they have always behaved.”
The second scenario is for developed countries to pay trillions of dollars to finance a green energy revolution in developing countries. But this is politically unthinkable: Can anyone sanely imagine the
U.S. Congress appropriating hundreds of billions of dollars for China, an economic competitor?
The final possibility is for developed countries to compel developing countries to reduce emissions by taxing the carbon content of their exports. Countries like
China depend on export-driven economic growth, so a carbon tariff would surely get their attention, but in a very bad way-retaliation in kind would be almost assured. That would launch a global trade tariff war of the sort that exacerbated the Great Depression. That is the last thing the ailing global economy needs.
Of all three prospects, the smart money is on global inaction. “Doing something” about global warming doesn’t come cheap-the International Energy Agency estimates it would cost $45 trillion to halve emissions by 2050-and there is no precedent for international burden sharing of this magnitude for anything short of a world war. Thus, history implies that a global response to global warming is impossible. Current climate diplomacy certainly suggests as much. … According to World Bank estimates, nearly 2 billion people in developing countries rely on dung, wood and charcoal to heat their homes and cook their food. For the impoverished, a coal-fired power plant giving them access to affordable energy would be a blessing. We can afford to let the climate be.

Carbon Sequestration: A Costly Pipedream by Steve Milloy

University of Houston energy Michael Economides says in this recent study that CCS for just Kyoto Protocol-type CO2 cuts in the U.S. would require the drilling of 161,429 injection wells by 2030 at a cost of 1.61 trillion dollars — and there’s no guarantee that the CO2 would stay sequestered, much less accomplish anything for the climate. That price tag doesn’t include the cost of capturing the CO2 at the point of generation, purchasing rights of way for pipelines, pipeline installation costs, liability insurance etc. Economides says the total cost may be as high as $1 trillion annually. Waxman-Markey-type CO2 limits, which are much more Draconian than the Kyoto Protocol, would obviously be even more expensive. It’s quite a price to pay for something that may not work and, even if it did, would accomplish nothing.

NuclearReactors

The infamous Sierra Club, an environmental extremist group has petitioned the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to stop the construction of a second reactor at the TennesseeValleyAuthority’s Watts Bar Plant in Tennessee. WBIR TV in Knoxville reported:

TVA keeps pushing for more nuclear reactors in spite of massive cost overruns they laways have when they build them,” said Bill Reynolds, a member of the Tennessee chapter of the Sierra Club, in a written statement.

The Waxman-Markey and healthcare legislation must not be passed in Congress so President Obama can sign it – most likely without reading the 1,000 pages-plus each. In addition, President Obama has added prescriptions to the health reform legislation, or at least requested it.

Does President Obama realize what his legacy will be if all of this takes place?

Call, fax or write a letter to your senators and let them know that this plan is not affordable and that they perform more research and scrutinize health care programs in other nations before even thinking of voting upon it. It is true that insurance premiums are skyrocketing, as well as health care costs that the insurance companies don’t pay – but why jump from the frying pan into the fire. Never trust any legislation that is pushed hurriedly through with congressional members not reading the entire bill and some not realizing what will occur if passed. The biggest mystery is how and who will pay the monstrous amount required to operate such a plan. Obama proposes that medical providers, employers and the “wealthy” will be paying the debt. As part of the healthcare plan, a Senate committee

voted 13-10 to advance $600 million (in addition to the 1.5 trillion-dollar plan) that would require individuals to get health insurance and employers to contribute to the cost. [MSNBC]

Hurry and contact your senators – Obama is pushing to finalize his programs before the congressional break in August.
